CRA Announcements

2-28-10

Due to large amounts of snow and adverse weather conditions and possibly more snow coming, The Salem Motorcycle Club is cancelling the March 7th race.  Some members were down at E. Palestine on Sunday, Feb 28, and the race quad could not go through the snow.  We had a 4 wheel drive quad and it barely was able to get through.  We will try to reschedule this race at E. Palestine later on.

Here is a new feature for the CRA website - -  Each month, Gary Semics will be submitting riding techniques.   We hope you find this information helpful.  You can contact Gary with your comments and questions at www.garysemics.com   He also has some upcomming classes you can sign up for to sharpen your skills!

Riding on the Balls of the Feet

I am really surprised how many people are interested about the technique of riding on the balls of the feet or riding on the arches.  I’ll tell you right up front that being comfortable riding on the balls of the feet takes a lot of practice.  But when a rider does become comfortable with this technique there are three benefits to it. # 1 you have more body travel, #2 you won’t hit the shifter or rear brake by accident and #3 you won’t get your feet ripped off the foot pegs from your toe hitting the dirt.  As I said, for this technique to become natural its takes a lot of the correct type of practice.  So don’t throw it out the window if it feels awkward at first.

It’s kind of like down hill skiing.  It’s easier to keep your feet farther apart when you are a beginner but the pros keep their skis closer together.  One place motocross pros are always on the balls of their feet is through the whoops.  If it can be done through the whoops it can be done anywhere on the track.  The only acceptation is if you're going to land hard from a jump or even case a jump.  In this case you would want to be on the arches of your feet so you don't sprain your ankles.  Just make sure you have your toes pointed out a little so you don't hit the shifter or rear brake by accident.  It all comes with knowing the correct techniques and a lot of quality practice time.  For all the correct techniques in an affordable easy to understand format check out my Motocross Practice Manual on the DVD ordering page of my website.

I received this email . . . . .

 Hey Peggy,

Just thought I'd drop you a quick note to let you know the winner of this year's Pro-Action of Northern Ohio CRA banquet raffle was Sami Goff.  She won $100 off suspension services and used it this weekend in preparation for this season. - -

I'd like to thank everyone who entered and I plan to do this again next year

Thanks!

Bob Harrington

Please check your glass series award -  besure it is for the proper series and it has a bike or quad on it.  One of our quad winners had a bike on it  so one of your bike riders may have a quad.  Let me know so I can make the switch.  Thanks  Peggy

It is with great sadness we pass along this information to you.   The C.R.A. along with many others lost a dear friend.  Senior Quad harescramble rider John Gallagher Sr. passed away today in a work related accident.  John's years with the CRA date back to the very beginning when the CRA was born. He is one of the original members and was a “fixture“ at many of our events and a constant year end award winner. We send our deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

We have added a Banquet flier and a Summit Indoor Pre registration form to the publications section of the web site  They are PDF. forms. You can print them out and mail in with your payment.

Attention Riders BNR motorsports is accepting resumes for 2010 race season for MX and HS ATV and Dirtbike. Riders can email there resumes to bnrmotorsports@hotmail.com or mail them to 11979 Market St. North Lima OH 44452.

It is always a sad day when we talk about the passing of one of our riders, one of our friends.  I received this email:

I was wanting to let you know about an accident that claimed three of our friends saturday night. One of the victims being Louie Young . A longtime racer which he raced in CRA as well as GNCC events. If you could please post this information on the website as he had many friends he raced with that knew and loved him.

Here is a link for more information on the crash if you would like to post that

Please keep Louis, his family and friends in your prayers.

God Speed Louis Young

All Racers, Please Note- If you have a scoring issue, it must be raised with the referee or brought to the promoter's attention within 15 to 30 minutes after the end of the moto or race (in Harescrambles) or it will be more difficult to get it corrected. PLEASE don't wait to the end of the program to try to get a correction made. Thanks!

There is a new tab at the top of the site for CRA Race Reports. These are .pdf files (read with Adobe Acrobat Reader) that detail race happenings in the CRA. They are downloadable, so you can print them, mail them or email them to sponsors and family! Click on the tab and check them out!

Due to several economic factors, including this year's postal rate increase, the first issue of 2009 of The Finish Line (CRA's newspaper) will be the last for a while.

There is another new section on the CRA Homepage. In the righthand information pane is a CRA Track Links section, listing the websites of those CRA tracks having one. Additional information on those tracks can be found by clicking on the track name and going to their respective websites.

New section added, located on the left side of the site- links to CRA member-owned sites. If you have a site dedicated to racing, and want to get the word out, send in the link, and we'll get it posted. Please note that all sites are checked to be “family-friendly“ before the link is posted.
